ABSTRACT | Research integrity officers (RIOs) are the gatekeepers of research integrity, often positioned at the apogee of research administration structures. Accordingly, I introduced the role of RIOs in Taiwanese research institutions, including their general duties and the challenges and mental struggles that may be experienced during the process of managing research misconduct allegations. I also suggested possible solutions to improve such situations. It was always valuable to be able to learn from others’ experiences—both success and failures. Therefore, I hoped this presentation provides an opportunity for the audience to rethink how research integrity in affiliated institutions can be maintained.
